2.) Our Cultural Roots (and Future)

Back

http://bootme21.webs.com _____________________________ Ten thousand years ago a new type of culture came into existence. It is the culture in which we live. The Agricultural Revolution was the beginning of this Culture and it's myth. The myth is based on the philosophy that the earth belongs to man, and that he is fundamentally flawed. The implications of the earth belonging to man are grave, especially when the people of the culture believe that they are fundamentally flawed. If man is is to conquer and control the planet, but he is fundamentally flawed, the earth is bound to be destroyed, or, at least, it is bound to be uninhabitable, if we continue to believe the myth of our culture. I do not have all of the answers, but knowing there is a problem is the first place to start. If we do not recognize that there is a problem with this culture, we do not have the inclination to try something different. We must try something different, or our species is doomed. Man is part of the cyclicality of the earth, which we call nature. Man is not above it. He is a part of it. So long as our culture dictates that we are separate from nature, we will continue to destroy it. In turn, we will be destroying ourselves and fulfilling the myth of our culture.
