Satellites of the Sun

Back

The science of film animation and a new knowledge of outer space bring to the screen this spectacular, awe-inspiring view of our solar system. Staggering distances are eliminated through the art of film, and there, before our eyes, is displayed the wonder of the universe. Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Venus, Earth, the most favored planet, and all the other satellites and lesser matter in space are seen in amazing detail and perspective in their eternal orbits around the sun. Directed by Sidney Goldsmith Sidney Goldsmith was my mentor. Though him I learned the complicated art of animating still objects to make them a live by multiplying their layers, exposure value and motion. Sidney showed me how to use a air brush pen to create space wonders. We spent over 100 hours together exchanging. I owe him most of what I know. I display this film as a tribute to his fine art. Sid was at the birth of the project 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. Brian Johnson (visual effect supervisor of Alian and The Never Ending Story) was also a student of him.
