Power switches ballast loads at W. Oroville

Back

UP ES44AC 5280, SD70M 3947, and SD40-2 'snoot' 3385 switch ballast loads at CP F202, W. Oroville. This is big and unusual power to be switching the small yard here at Oroville. The engineer was actually controlling from the ES44AC and a third member of the crew acted as an extra pair of eyes on the SD40-2, especially because they were using the drill track, a piece of siding that runs along the mainline out of town for about 1,000 feet, then dead ends into a hillside. This power had been stored here in the yard for about a week before they put together a loaded ballast train, shoved the power on the other end, then headed up the canyon to do some track work around MP 236. W. Oroville is MP 202.1. C60AC Productions (c) 2008
