**song: 1 Thing by Amerie** Chapter 30 [The next day Alyse met Deanna outside her apartment building, They walked to school together, then went their separate ways for homeroom. Today Alyse noticed a guy across the room catch her eye a couple of times. He had brown hair that came down around his eye level, but his blue eyes shown right through the curtain of hair. Alyse felt her face get warm when she saw him looking at her. The bell rang, & he stood up. Alyse realized she was still sitting as he passed her & smiled, and she quickly stood up & left the room after him. When she got to the hall she looked for him, but he was no where in sight. Deanna walked up to her as she scanned the hall, so she didn't see her.] D: Hello? Earth to Alyse? A: Oh, uh, hey. D: Looking for someone? A: Um....no. [She shrugged & they went to their 1st period. When Alyse & Deanna walked into 3rd period, Alex's friends were looking anxiously at the door for her to enter. When they did, the two girls ran up to her, leaving Alex alone in the corner. The first girl, Maddie, held a copy of Popstar in her hands.] M: Alyse, this girl looks like you! A: Uh...who does? [She was hoping she wouldn't be recognized so soon, so she played dumb.] M: This girl with Nick Jonas! A: No she doesn't. [The other girl, Paige, pointed excitedly.] P: Yeah she does! Look, she's even wearing the same shirt as you! D: Yeah, Alyse they're right. & you have those sunglasses; you wore them yesterday on the walk home. A: Um...yeah. What a coincidence. [She prayed that the girls would let go the subject. Then, Alex cleared her throat from across the room, & called her friends back over.] A: (thinking) Well, God might have a weird sense of humor, but it works haha. [Luckily, the subject wasn't brought up again until they were on their way to lunch. When 3rd period ended, Deanna & Alyse went to their lockers. Deanna met Alyse at her locker.] D: So...I know we kinda just met, but I can trust you, right? A: Right, why? D: Because I do trust you. & you should know that you can trust me too. A: Ok, thanks. D: So...is their anything you want to trust me with? A: [She sighed.] Is there something you'd like to know? D: Well yeah. Do you know Nick Jonas? [Alyse knew that Deanna was just curious. After all, if she was in her position, she would be too.] A: Pinky promise not to tell anyone? [She stuck out her pinky.] D: Of course. [She grabbed Alyse's pinky with hers & shook. A: Ok well, I do know Nick. D: & is it you in the picture? A: It is. D: OMG! [She yelled & Alyse shushed her quickly.] Sorry. But why didn't you tell me you had a famous boyfriend? A: He's not my boyfriend. That's just what the magazine said. D: Oh. [By this time, they were at the table, but they were the only ones. Deanna's other friends weren't there yet.] Do you like him? A: Well...[She wasn't sure if she was ready to admit this, even though she knew she could trust Deanna. But she didn't have to make the decision, because just then, the boy from her homeroom sat down next to Deanna.] D: Hi Bret. B: Hey Dee. We don't have any classes together this year. D: No. Too bad. But I'm in all my classes with Alyse here. Alyse, this is Bret Hayner. [Bret stuck out his hand to Alyse.] B: Hey, you're in my homeroom, right? A: Yeah. [She giggled.] ??: Hey Hayner! Get over here! [A guy called from across the cafeteria. Bret said goobye to the girls & left to go to his friends. Deanna watched Alyse as she followed Bret with her eyes.] D: Oooooo, Alyse! So much for Nick! A: What do you mean? D: You like Bret! A: I don't...I don't even know him. I mean I just saw him today in homeroom, but- D: Is he who you were looking for in the hallway? A: Maybe... **Alex's POV** [During lunch I was till examining the picture in Popstar. I couldn't believe Alyse knew Nick Jonas, but the picture looked so much like her. I heard Bret's name being called across the room, & looked up just in time to see him leaving Alyse & Deanna's table. My face turned hard with anger, & Paige noticed.] P: What, are you jealous because your ex is talking to another girl? Al: Yes, especially because it's that girl. M: She's nice. P: She's everywhere. Her twin being in Popstar is just too weird. Al: Well, apparently, Deanna didn't tell her the rules. We'll have to fix that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eh, stupid chapter i think haha i dont like Alex. she's a meaner lol but hope you still like it! haha comment rate sub PLEASE!! =] oops, i forgot to change the info in the vid haha oh well!
