Gill Baza Residents Face Challenges Despite Being Awarded $5

Guam-Residents of the Gill Baza Subdivision have cause to celebrate and to worry as Superior Court Judge Anita Sukola finally decided how the court battle with developer Cyfred Ltd will end. In her 37 page decision, Sukola notes that $580,000 will be awarded to residents for Cyfred's failure to install a sewer line in the subdivision, a decision that nearly mirrors the court's judgment made in 2006. However, the money is all they will receive. Sukola says residents won't be spared from not paying their mortgages and if they wish to remain in the subdivision, she suggests they work something out with Cyfred. In addition, Sukola says barring a decision from the Supreme Court, residents are now responsible for installing the sewer line with the money from the judgment, otherwise, they could be held in contempt. Further proceedings on attorneys fees will be held next month on September 19th.
