My Fourth Poem: Shades Of Gray

Back

I attempt a fourth poem. This is about how we have options to seek a brighter life, but many sink into the dark side. ''Shades Of Gray'' by Diesel Bodine How tides in life allure us By their often tranquil flow But all too often ''men o' war,'' Intent on battle, show Each breaking day entices, In waking birds, a song Yet hapless ears, indifferently, Defame these notes as wrong For many minds align themselves Emergent shades of gray. Tomorrow's shifting fortunes, Like the tossing of a coin, Can still bring sorrow and regret If menaces enjoin Each one of us to skirmish In wasted acts performed, As heartless cogs in chariot wheels In war, the peace we stormed Our despot rulers pride themselves Decayed in shades of gray. May wistful thought entreat those Whom embittered ideas nest? Can't hope relight a pallid face Rendering it refreshed? Fear not the depths of darkness Expounding in their way That hopelessness and misfortune Are all our price to pay But beware minds aligned too deep Submerged in shades of gray.
